How do I send Bitcoin to a charity wallet?
To donate Bitcoin to charity, copy the verified wallet on World Aid Network’s Donate Bitcoin page — not this site. Send native BTC on the Bitcoin network only. MetaMask cannot send Bitcoin. Converted sterling funds WAN’s Emergency Disaster Fund. Gift Aid is not claimable on Bitcoin gifts.
Open World Aid Network to donate bitcoin to charity. Copy only the published bech32 address. Send native BTC from a Bitcoin wallet or exchange.
Exchanges often charge a BTC withdrawal fee and may send from a pooled address. That is normal. Email [email protected] if you need a receipt and can identify the transaction.
Paste, then check the first and last four characters before you confirm. One wrong character sends the gift to someone World Aid Network cannot reach.
What Bitcoin can I send?
Native Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network only. Do not send Ethereum, USDT, Solana, BNB, Lightning invoices, Bitcoin Cash, or wrapped Bitcoin on another chain.
If your exchange asks for a memo or destination tag, Bitcoin does not use one — stop and check you are on the Bitcoin network. Lightning is not this gift. WAN has not published a Lightning node.
WBTC, cbBTC and BTCB are not native Bitcoin. Swap to BTC on the Bitcoin chain before you send, or do not send.
World Aid Network converts BTC to sterling on receipt and does not hold Bitcoin as an investment.
Which wallet can send Bitcoin?
A Bitcoin wallet such as Electrum or Sparrow, a hardware wallet’s Bitcoin account, or a centralised exchange Bitcoin withdrawal. MetaMask and most EVM DeFi wallets cannot send native BTC.
If your stack is Ethereum-only, donate ethereum to charity or donate USDT to charity may match what you actually hold.
See How to choose a crypto wallet if you are still picking a Bitcoin wallet.
What does converted Bitcoin fund?
Sterling after conversion is allocated to World Aid Network’s Emergency Disaster Fund for food, water, hygiene kits and shelter. Markets move; the gift that buys kits is the sterling amount after conversion, not a later Bitcoin high.
WAN publishes typical partner kit costs in sterling on its crypto giving hub. Disaster money does not rebuild houses or run medical clinics. WAN does not claim a 100% donation policy.
Does Gift Aid apply to a Bitcoin donation?
No. Gift Aid is for gifts of money from UK taxpayers. HMRC treats cryptoassets as property. Registration for World Aid Network is still in progress (application 5290505). Seek independent advice on Capital Gains Tax.
Do not assume a “no gain, no loss” CGT treatment applies until WAN is a qualifying charity and your own facts match HMRC’s rules.

Only send native Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network. Wrapped BTC, Lightning invoices, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Solana, BNB or any other asset sent to that wallet is usually lost. This page never lists the address.
Electrum, Sparrow, a Ledger Bitcoin account, or a CEX Bitcoin withdrawal. MetaMask does not send native BTC.
