How do I donate crypto to charity from a wallet?
Decentralized Finance Publication does not publish charity wallets or process gifts. To donate cryptocurrency to charity, open World Aid Network’s crypto giving hub, then the page for Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, Solana or BNB. Copy only that published address and send the matching native asset on the matching network. WAN converts every gift to sterling for the Emergency Disaster Fund. Gift Aid is not claimable on crypto.
This site is a DeFi research publication. It does not run wallets. The conversion path is to donate cryptocurrency to charity on World Aid Network — then open the coin page for the asset you actually hold.
Copy an address only from that World Aid Network page. Do not copy a wallet from a search ad, a screenshot, a social comment or a message that claims to be a charity.
Confirm the network in your wallet or exchange withdrawal screen before you sign. Bitcoin is not Ethereum. USDT on Tron is not USDT on Ethereum. ETH on Base is not Ethereum mainnet.
Which cryptocurrencies can I send?
World Aid Network accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT on Ethereum mainnet (ERC-20 only), Solana and BNB. Each coin has its own verified wallet on a separate WAN page. Sending the wrong asset or the wrong network usually loses the funds.
Use the explainers on this hub, then the WAN page whose head term matches the coin: donate bitcoin to charity, donate ethereum to charity, donate USDT to charity, donate solana to charity, or donate BNB to charity.
Do not send USDC, dogecoin, wrapped Bitcoin, or any unpublished token. World Aid Network does not publish a new coin until trustees have a verified wallet for it.
What can I not donate from DeFi?
You cannot donate aTokens, stETH, LP tokens, vault shares, restaked receipts or wrapped BTC to these wallets. Unwrap, withdraw or swap to native BTC, native ETH, ERC-20 USDT, native SOL or native BNB first. Layer-2 ETH is not Ethereum mainnet ETH.
Aave aUSDC is not USDT. Lido stETH is not ETH. Curve LP tokens are not a donation asset. Wrapped BTC on Ethereum (WBTC, cbBTC) is not native Bitcoin. Sending any of those to a WAN coin page usually loses the gift.
If you hold ETH on Arbitrum, Base or Optimism, bridge to Ethereum mainnet before you donate ethereum to charity. If you hold USDT-TRC20, that is not the ERC-20 wallet on donate USDT to charity.
If unwrapping feels unsafe, stop. A card gift on World Aid Network’s donate page is the safer path.
Should I send from a wallet or an exchange?
Either works if you pick the matching network. A self-custody wallet (MetaMask, Phantom, a hardware device) lets you see the chain before you sign. A CEX withdrawal must use the native network — not an L2, not Lightning, not a memo field Bitcoin does not use.
Exchanges often charge a withdrawal fee and may send from a pooled address. That is normal. Large or unusual gifts may need know-your-donor checks before World Aid Network can thank you by name.
Hardware wallets still need the right app and network. A Ledger Ethereum account cannot donate bitcoin to charity. A Phantom wallet cannot send native ETH.
You do not need The Giving Block, Engiven or another intermediary to complete a WAN wallet transfer. Always check the URL is worldaidnetwork.org.
Is a crypto donation tax-efficient in the UK?
HMRC can treat a gift of cryptoassets to a qualifying UK charity as no gain, no loss for Capital Gains Tax. World Aid Network’s Charity Commission registration is in progress (application 5290505), so do not assume that relief applies yet. Gift Aid is for gifts of money, not in-kind crypto. Seek independent tax advice.
Do not add 25% to a Bitcoin or USDT amount in your own accounts. This publication does not act as your tax adviser. For UK CGT mechanics, Section 104 pooling and worked examples, use Digital Assets UK’s UK crypto tax guide 2026/27.
Give because you want the Emergency Disaster Fund funded — not because a tax saving is guaranteed. When registration is granted, WAN will update its crypto giving hub.
Why are the wallets on World Aid Network, not this site?
Decentralized Finance Publication is independent educational research. It does not custody donations. Publishing a second address here would split trust and create a phishing surface. World Aid Network publishes one verified wallet per coin and converts gifts to sterling for disaster relief.
The page built to donate crypto to charity is the map. Coin pages on worldaidnetwork.org are the only place to copy an address.
We still explain the wallet and network checks here so a DeFi reader is not sent to a random “crypto charity” lookalike from a search ad.
