In December 2013, Palmer created Dogecoin as a humorous take on the explosive growth of alternative cryptocurrencies following Bitcoin's success. The project was inspired by the popular 'Doge' internet meme featuring a Shiba Inu dog and used playful, fractured English in its branding. Despite—or perhaps because of—its satirical origins, Dogecoin gained considerable traction within cryptocurrency communities and developed a strong, supportive user base that valued its approachable and non-serious ethos.

Palmer subsequently focused his career on roles in product management and growth at established technology companies, including serving as Senior Director of Project Management for Adobe Cloud's Growth & Data Science team. His work demonstrates expertise in scaling products, data-driven decision-making, and leading cross-functional teams. While Dogecoin continued to develop and even achieved mainstream attention years after Palmer's reduced involvement—including celebrity endorsements and occasional trading spikes—Palmer maintained a relatively low profile, occasionally commenting on cryptocurrency issues whilst primarily focusing on his work in mainstream technology.
